Steve Lansley

During one of Simon's lessons a local man named Alex Neil walked in to the class. Simon had heard that Alex was keen to see what “Sanshangong” was all about and that one day he would come to watch…and there he was. What he saw he liked, and after a brief chat with Simon he left saying “I’ll be back”.

STEVE LANSLEY

Steve has remained with “Sanshangong” ever since. An ancient injury did keep him away for an extended period of time, but when he could, he came back - and with such a vengeance!

Simon's friendship with Steve Lansley goes back to the late 1970s when they both attended the same High School. After that time Simon rarely saw Steve but two decades later a chance-meeting brought them together and so led to his decision to open a martial arts school where he would teach the Art of Chinese gongfu as per his experiences in Asia and the Far East.

The lesson began promptly at 8 on the appointed evening. Steve was not there but then…Simon had not expected him to be! Then, in walked Steve. Noticing both the surprise on Simon's face as well as the delight, Steve said: “Today I’m forty so it is time for a change of direction for me. Time for a new way forward, and this is it!”

According to traditional Chinese martial arts custom, Steve is the senior student of the “Wight Wushuguan". He has amassed hundreds of hours of official and scheduled “Sanshangong” class-time and is an “Assistant Instructor” alongside Alex Neil.

Steve is also a co-founder of the “Wight Wushuguan”.

ALEX NEIL

Alex Neil

During one of Simon's lessons a local man named Alex Neil walked in to the class. Simon had heard that Alex was keen to see what “Sanshangong” was all about and that one day he would come to watch…and there he was. What he saw he liked, and after a brief chat with Simon he left saying “I’ll be back”.

Alex came back the very next lesson and has remained with “Sanshangong” throughout. As dedicated as he is loyal, Alex trains twice a week and has very rarely missed a lesson during the four and a half years he has been actively studying “Sanshangong”.

As an “Assistant Instructor” within “Sanshangong”, Alex has amassed more than 1,000 hours of official and scheduled lessons.
