Classes For Older People
On July 10th 2006 Mr. Lailey began teaching Oriental Health exercises to three of the Isle Of Wight’s Care Homes, namely “Northbrooke House” in Havenstreet, “Tile House” in Shanklin, and “Highfield House” which is also in Shanklin owned and operated by Island Healthcare Ltd.
Mr. Lailey was first approached by Maggie Bennett, Managing Director of Island Healthcare Ltd, asking him if he would be prepared to teach such an activity to the care homes in the group. Mr, Lailey readily agreed to this as he is always looking to help those that wished to be helped, no matter what their age or situation may be.
Although many of those participating are wheelchair-bound or Zimmer frame-, stick-, or crutch-dependent, they are still able to make very good progress during their once-a-fortnight sessions.
Exercising to the accompaniment of traditional Chinese music, these care home residents and day care visitors are clearly enjoying Mr. Lailey’s one-to-one instruction and his unique approach to physical and mental health care issues.
As this ongoing programme is proving so successful Mr. Lailey is now looking to take his practice into other care homes based on the island.
